A new analysis published in JAMA Network Open suggests that initiating GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1s) is associated with a lower risk of fragility fractures in adults with type 2 diabetes, compared to starting DPP-4 inhibitors. This finding challenges previous assumptions of a neutral skeletal effect for GLP-1s, as the benefit did not correlate with the amount of weight loss.
