Combination therapy extends survival for advanced thyroid cancer patients

A global Phase 3 trial, reported in *The Lancet Oncology*, indicates that combining dabrafenib and trametinib significantly improves outcomes for patients with BRAF V600E-positive differentiated thyroid cancer resistant to radioactive iodine. The regimen extended progression-free survival to 12.8 months from 3.7 months on placebo, reducing the risk of progression or death by 62%. This offers a new treatment option for a challenging cancer.
