NIH Researchers Develop AI Algorithm to Expedite Clinical Trial Volunteer Matching

Researchers from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) have developed an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm, named TrialGPT, to streamline the process of matching potential volunteers to relevant clinical research trials listed on ClinicalTrials.gov. Published in Nature Communications, the study found that TrialGPT can successfully identify eligible trials and provide clear summaries of how individuals meet enrollment criteria, potentially improving clinical trial enrollment and accelerating medical research.
