AIDS 2026 Conference Highlights Advances in HIV Prevention with Long-Acting Therapies

New research presented at the AIDS 2026 conference on August 2, 2026, includes findings on long-acting broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) for preventing HIV infection in young women, as evaluated in a Phase II clinical trial by the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA). Additionally, real-world data from the OPERA cohort presented at the conference indicates that long-acting lenacapavir continues to provide effective HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) after one year, showing comparable effectiveness to daily Biktarvy.
