Health Canada Enhances Framework to Address Drug and Medical Device Shortages

Health Canada has strengthened its drug and medical device shortage framework by expanding its authority to monitor and manage shortages and introducing a new mechanism to extend certain drug expiry dates when necessary to prevent or alleviate a shortage. The updated regulations also revise reporting requirements for manufacturers.
