WHO Calls for Protection of Healthcare Facilities in Gaza Amid Israeli Attacks

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an urgent call for the protection of healthcare facilities in Gaza, following an Israeli strike that reportedly destroyed a critical storage unit and essential medical supplies near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized that healthcare facilities must never be attacked or militarized, even as insecurity persists despite an existing ceasefire. The destruction of the drug warehouse at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital has pushed Gaza's medical system to the brink of collapse, with WHO recording nearly 1,000 attacks on healthcare in Gaza since October 2023.
