Sudan's Medicine Imports Exceed $274 Million, Improving Drug Availability

Sudan has imported over $274 million worth of medicines during the first half of 2026, leading to an improvement in national drug availability to over 70%, according to health authorities. The National Fund for Medical Supplies (NFMS) secured a three-month supply of 40 essential items. This development comes as Sudan continues to grapple with a severe healthcare crisis, marked by a 35% surge in medicine prices and critical shortages of vital drugs due to the ongoing conflict. Efforts to rebuild domestic manufacturing are also underway, with 13 local factories resuming operations.
