Sudan Boosts Medicine Supply with $274 Million in Imports, Improving Availability

Sudan's health authorities reported importing over $274 million worth of medicines in the first half of 2026, increasing national drug availability to over 70%. The National Fund for Medical Supplies secured a three-month supply of 40 essential items. This addresses a severe healthcare crisis, including a 35% medicine price surge and shortages exacerbated by conflict. Efforts are also underway to restart domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing, with 13 local factories resuming operations.
