Florida Reports Nearly 100 New Cyclosporiasis Cases Amid Ongoing National Outbreak Linked to Lettuce; Michigan Reports Two Deaths

Florida has recorded 97 new cases of the foodborne parasitic infection cyclosporiasis in the most recent week, bringing its total to 252 since June 1. The national outbreak, primarily linked to iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico, has infected over 11,200 people across 45 states, with Michigan being the epicenter. Two deaths of individuals with underlying health conditions have been reported in Michigan. Michigan health authorities were in contact with Taco Bell's parent company in early July regarding the outbreak, weeks before a public alert was issued.
