European Commission Approves Sanofi's MenQuadfi Vaccine for Infants as Young as Six Weeks

Sanofi has received approval from the European Commission to extend the indication of its MenQuadfi vaccine to infants starting from six weeks of age. This expansion broadens protection against invasive meningococcal disease caused by serogroups A, C, W, and Y, which can be rapidly progressing and fatal, particularly in infants who face high mortality rates and long-term complications. Previously, the vaccine was authorized in the EU for individuals aged 12 months and older. This decision provides healthcare providers with an additional option to protect very young children against this serious bacterial infection.
