Ebola Outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo Continues to Expand, Reaching Record Numbers

The Ebola virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has escalated, with the CDC reporting 3,553 confirmed cases and 1,558 deaths across 49 health zones in five provinces. In the last 24 hours, 69 new confirmed cases and 34 deaths were recorded, making it the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak in recorded history. Ituri remains the epicenter, accounting for 87.9% of cumulative cases.
