CDC Expands Cyclosporiasis Outbreak to 15 States, Reports Two Fatalities

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has expanded the largest known cyclosporiasis outbreak to 15 states, adding six new states, with illnesses linked to shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico. Two deaths have been confirmed in Michigan, marking the first fatalities in this outbreak. The individuals who died had underlying health conditions that may have exacerbated the intestinal illness.
