CDC Expands Cyclosporiasis Outbreak to 15 U.S. States, Linked to Contaminated Lettuce

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has expanded its investigation into the largest known cyclosporiasis outbreak to 15 states, adding six new states to the list. The outbreak has been linked to iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell restaurants, which was sourced from Taylor Farms operations in central Mexico. This foodborne illness outbreak has resulted in record levels of cyclosporiasis cases in 2026, with Michigan reporting the highest number of cases and two associated deaths. Authorities are continuing to investigate other potential sources.
