Study Links Firearm Carrying to Accelerated Suicide Risk Among High School Students

A new study published in JAMA Network Open, based on self-reports from over 23,000 high school students, reveals a strong association between firearm carrying and an increased risk of suicide attempts. Adolescents who reported carrying a firearm within the previous 30 days were nearly four times more likely to have attempted suicide in the prior 12 months.
