FDA Approves Novel Drug for Narcolepsy Type 1

The U.S. FDA has approved Oveporexton (Orzeyful) for treating narcolepsy type 1. This marks the first orexin receptor 2–selective agonist for the condition, aiming to restore deficient orexin signaling and modify the core pathophysiology. Clinical trials demonstrated improvements in daytime wakefulness, sleepiness, and significant reductions in cataplexy, offering a new therapeutic option.
