CDC Awards $4.6 Million to Strengthen Global Influenza and Pathogen Surveillance Networks

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced cooperative agreements totaling $4.6 million for fiscal year 2026 to five international institutions. These awards aim to enhance global health security by strengthening surveillance networks for influenza and other priority pathogens, improving detection and response to infectious disease threats. The funding will support national institutions in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Madagascar, South Africa, and Georgia to conduct seasonal influenza surveillance, detect novel influenza viruses, and identify outbreaks of severe respiratory illness.
