A phase 3 clinical trial, published in The Lancet and led by Weill Cornell Medicine, found that adding the targeted radionuclide therapy 177Lu-PSMA-617 (lutetium PSMA 617 vipivotide tetraxetan) to standard backbone therapy significantly reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 28% in patients with PSMA-positive metastatic prostate cancer. This breakthrough may lead to earlier administration of this therapy and a change in the standard of care.
