Fresenius Kabi Recalls Morphine Sulfate Injection Due to Life-Threatening Labeling Mix-Up
Fresenius Kabi has issued a voluntary nationwide recall for one lot of Morphine Sulfate Injection USP, Simplist® 2 mg/1 mL, after discovering that some MicroVaults labeled as morphine may contain prefilled syringes of Dilaudid 0.5 mg/0.5 mL. This critical mix-up could lead to serious dosing errors, including overdose, severe respiratory distress, or death, as Dilaudid is significantly more potent than morphine.
