Allegheny Health Network First in Western Pennsylvania to Offer GammaTile for Brain Cancer

Allegheny Health Network has become the first in Western Pennsylvania to offer GammaTile, a surgically targeted radiation therapy for brain tumors. Findings from a nationwide prospective, randomized clinical trial, presented in May 2026, showed that GammaTile patients experienced significantly lower rates of tumor regrowth, longer recurrence-free survival, and improved overall survival compared to those receiving standard radiation therapy after surgery. The trial indicated a reduction in the chance of tumor return within one year from 15% to 1% and a 50% reduction in future regrowth risks.
