Spinal Cord Stimulation Shows Promise in Improving Arm Movement After Stroke
A pilot clinical trial conducted by University of Pittsburgh researchers, and recently published in Nature Medicine, demonstrated that implanted electrical stimulation devices significantly improved hand and arm mobility in seven stroke survivors with severe motor deficits. Participants experienced an average 32% increase in arm strength and overall improved arm mobility after less than nine hours of painless movement training.
