Public Health Alert Issued for Meat and Poultry Products Containing Salmonella-Contaminated Jalapeños

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for various meat and poultry products that contain FDA-regulated jalapeños recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination. This alert follows notification from the FDA that multiple FSIS-regulated establishments received the recalled ingredient. Consumers are advised to check for affected products, which include 12.5 oz Marketside branded Southwest Style Salad with Chicken sold at Walmart in Florida, and other products distributed across 22 states by various retailers. Taylor Fresh Foods has also voluntarily recalled products made with these jalapeños. Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, a common bacterial foodborne illness.
