CDC Alerts Providers to Increase in Cyclosporiasis Cases and Iceberg Lettuce Recall

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reminding healthcare providers and the public about an increase in cyclosporiasis cases, an intestinal illness caused by the parasite *Cyclospora cayetanensis*, which typically peaks from May through August. The CDC and FDA are also investigating a multistate outbreak linked to voluntarily recalled iceberg lettuce products from central Mexico due to possible *Cyclospora* contamination. Consumers are advised to discard or return recalled products and practice safe food handling.
