Daily Coffee Intake Not Linked to Worsened Atrial Fibrillation, May Reduce Recurrences, Study Suggests

A randomized clinical trial, DECAF, discussed in Cardiovascular Research, challenges the long-held caution against caffeine for atrial fibrillation (AF) patients. The study found that participants who consumed caffeinated coffee daily had a 39% lower hazard of recurrent clinically diagnosed AF or atrial flutter compared to those who abstained, with no observed differences in adverse events between the groups.
