A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reveals a substantial rise in U.S. emergency department visits related to Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS), particularly among young people, women, and certain racial and ethnic groups. This increase became especially noticeable after a new diagnosis code for CHS was introduced in October 2025. CHS is characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, linked to prolonged and frequent cannabis use. The CDC suggests that CHS may have been underestimated previously and calls for increased education for healthcare providers and the public.
