Report Highlights Nearly 600 Silicosis Cases Among California Countertop Workers

A Public Health Alerts report today details almost 600 cases of silicosis, an incurable lung disease caused by inhaling silica particles, among workers fabricating engineered stone countertops in California over a seven-year period. Of these, 65 patients required lung transplants and 31 died, underscoring a significant occupational health hazard.
