PEPFAR Disruptions Lead to Reduced Pediatric HIV Treatment Support and Service Site Closures

New studies presented at AIDS 2026 in Rio de Janeiro indicate that recent changes to the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) have caused disruptions in HIV services across numerous countries. These disruptions have coincided with a significant decline in PEPFAR-supported pediatric HIV treatment, leading to the closure of service sites.
