Virginia Department of Health Reaffirms Support for Childhood Vaccine Schedule Amid Federal Review

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has reaffirmed its support for the established childhood vaccine schedule, following an executive order signed by President Donald Trump directing the federal government to overhaul the childhood vaccination schedule. The executive order calls for changes to federal vaccine recommendations, including for the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine, and encourages states to reconsider their own vaccine requirements. VDH stated it continues to recommend that Virginia children receive vaccines according to the 2026 schedule from the American Academy of Pediatrics, emphasizing that its recommendations are grounded in science to protect children's health.
