Ten-Year Data Supports Antibiotics as an Option for Uncomplicated Appendicitis

Long-term observational follow-up data from a multicenter study, published in JAMA, indicates that antibiotics are a viable treatment option for uncomplicated acute appendicitis in adult patients. The 10-year data compared appendectomy with antibiotics, showing that nonoperative management with antibiotics is safe and effective in selected patients.
