New T-cell Therapy Shows Promise for Advanced Solid Tumors in Children

A highly promising study published in The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) in August 2026 highlights new avenues for treating advanced solid tumors in children through targeted T-cell therapy. Researchers at the Heidelberg Children's Cancer Center in Germany successfully used a single injection of modified T-cells, programmed to attack the PRAME protein, in a 17-year-old patient with widely metastatic nephroblastoma, achieving complete clinical and radiological remission for over a year.
