Duval County Issues Red Tide Alert for Fort George Inlet and Kingsley Plantation
The Florida Department of Health in Duval County (DOH-Duval) has issued a red tide alert for the Fort George Inlet and Kingsley Plantation areas. Residents and visitors are advised to avoid swimming or wading in affected waters, wash skin and clothing with fresh water if contact occurs, and refrain from harvesting or eating shellfish or distressed fish from these areas. The alert follows water samples taken on August 6 and August 11, 2026. Red tide can cause skin irritation, rashes, and eye irritation, and may be particularly problematic for individuals with respiratory conditions.
