Millions of Californians at Risk for Local Dengue Transmission, Study Finds

A recent study published in The Lancet Regional Health Americas indicates that approximately 18.2 million Californians, primarily in the Central Valley, Los Angeles, and San Diego metropolitan areas, reside in conditions suitable for local dengue transmission for at least one month annually. The study suggests that under moderate climate warming and urban expansion scenarios, an additional 4.1 million residents could be at risk by mid-century.
