Alert-Based ePRO Monitoring Shows Promise in Reducing Fatigue for Metastatic Breast Cancer Patients
A multicenter PRO B trial, published in JAMA Oncology, found that weekly electronic patient-reported outcome (ePRO) monitoring with alert-based clinical response significantly reduced fatigue and improved physical functioning in patients with metastatic breast cancer compared to usual care. The intervention, which involved a smartphone application with automated alerts for clinical deterioration, also showed potential system-level benefits, including fewer hospitalizations and emergency department visits.
