Two Children Hospitalized After Consuming Hallucinogenic Mushroom Chocolate

Two children, aged 5 and 6, were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit at Galilee Medical Center after ingesting chocolate containing hallucinogenic mushrooms during a family vacation. They presented with confusion, dilated pupils, and active hallucinations. Doctors, in consultation with Israel's National Poison Information Center, suspect exposure to Psilocybe or Panaeolus mushrooms, which contain psychoactive substances that can cause hallucinations, elevated blood pressure, and in severe cases, seizures and cardiac complications.
