The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has surpassed 100 days since its declaration, with the latest government figures reporting 5,515 confirmed cases and 2,642 deaths. Authorities recorded 51 new cases in Ituri and North Kivu provinces. The World Health Organization (WHO) notes that transmission is outpacing control efforts, requiring a substantial scale-up across all response areas to halt the spread of the Bundibugyo species of Ebola, for which there is currently no vaccine or specific treatment.
