Philippines Department of Health Activates Surge Capacity Protocols Amid Rising Leptospirosis Cases
The Department of Health (DOH) in the Philippines has activated surge capacity protocols in its hospitals due to an increase in leptospirosis cases. Hospitals experiencing capacity issues can coordinate with the Health Emergency Management Bureau's Operation Center for patient navigation using the Leptospirosis Bed Tracker System. The DOH advises individuals exposed to or who waded through floodwaters to seek immediate medical consultation at a YAKAP clinic or the nearest DOH hospital, even if asymptomatic.
