Morehouse School of Medicine and Atrium Health Plan New Teaching Hospital in Southwest Atlanta

Morehouse School of Medicine and Atrium Health have received state approval to develop a new teaching hospital in southwest Atlanta, committing over $700 million to enhance healthcare access and services in the region. The hospital will initially have about 50 beds, with plans to expand to over 700, offering 24-hour emergency care, Level III trauma services, obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, adult critical care, advanced imaging, and cardiac catheterization. This initiative aims to address the significant healthcare access challenges faced by the community since previous hospital closures.
