WHO Calls for Enhanced Avian Influenza Preparedness in Asia-Pacific Amid Rising H5N1 Outbreaks

The World Health Organization's Asia-Pacific regional influenza network has urged countries to strengthen their health systems' ability to detect and respond to highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) outbreaks, which are increasing in animals with potential for human spillover. The call came during the 19th Biregional Meeting of National Influenza Centres and Influenza Surveillance.
