US FDA Approves Eli Lilly's Mounjaro to Reduce Cardiovascular Risk in Type 2 Diabetes Patients

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Eli Lilly's diabetes drug Mounjaro (tirzepatide) to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, such as heart attack and stroke, in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease. This approval expands the indications for Mounjaro, which is also used for weight loss under the brand name Zepbound.
