Aficamten Shows Promise in Phase 3 Trial for Nonobstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Results from the ACACIA-HCM Phase 3 clinical trial indicate that aficamten, a selective cardiac myosin inhibitor, significantly improved exercise capacity and symptoms in patients with symptomatic nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) compared to placebo at 36 weeks. This condition, characterized by a thickening of the heart muscle, currently has few treatment options. The full dataset, including additional safety and biomarker data, was presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress 2026 and concurrently published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
