FDA Authorizes Marketing of JUUL2 E-Cigarette Device and Tobacco- and Menthol-Flavored Pods

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the marketing of three new e-cigarette products as part of the JUUL2 system, including the device itself and tobacco- and menthol-flavored pods. The FDA's review found that a substantial proportion of adult smokers completely switched from combustible cigarettes to the authorized JUUL2 products, with the menthol-flavored pod showing a higher rate of complete switching. The agency determined that the benefits to adult smokers outweigh the risks, including youth appeal.
