Study compares anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapies after TAVI procedure
A JAMA study on the ACASA-TAVI trial found that 12-month non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulant (NOAC) monotherapy after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) reduced hypoattenuated leaflet thickening. The research also indicated NOAC monotherapy was noninferior to acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) monotherapy for bleeding, thromboembolic events, or death. This suggests a potentially improved post-TAVI treatment strategy.
