Targeted Lead Placement Shows No Improved Outcomes in Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy for Heart Failure

Results from the DANISH-CRT trial, presented at the ESC Congress 2026 and published in The Lancet, indicate that targeted placement of the left ventricular pacing lead did not improve outcomes in patients with heart failure undergoing cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) compared to standard placement. The study found no significant difference in death or first heart failure hospitalization between the two approaches.
