FDA Approves Mimrylo (rusfertide) as First-in-Class Treatment for Polycythemia Vera

The FDA has approved Mimrylo (rusfertide), a novel treatment for adults with polycythemia vera, a rare blood disorder characterized by an overproduction of red blood cells. Mimrylo is the first approved treatment for this condition that mimics hepcidin, a hormone that regulates iron, offering a new approach to reduce red blood cell overproduction and potentially decrease the burden of frequent phlebotomies for patients.
