New Lancet Analysis Provides Insights into Long-Term Outcomes and Revision Risk of Knee Replacements
A large UK registry analysis published in The Lancet provides updated insights into the long-term efficacy and revision risk of total knee replacements. The meta-analysis found that 90% of implants were still functioning at 20 years and 82% at 25 years. The study also highlighted that lifetime revision risk is significantly higher for younger patients, with approximately 35% for men undergoing surgery in their early 50s compared to about 5% for patients over 70.
