New Study Identifies High-Risk Groups for Ketoacidosis with SGLT2 Inhibitors in Type 2 Diabetes Patients

Research published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology highlights that patients with type 2 diabetes who have high blood glucose levels, low body weight, or a history of ketoacidosis are at increased risk of developing this serious condition when treated with SGLT2 inhibitors. The study, which analyzed national health registry data from Scandinavia, also found that the risk persists throughout the entire course of treatment and that infection is a common trigger.
