FDA Approves Besremi for Essential Thrombocythemia, a Rare Excess-Platelet Disorder

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Besremi (ropeginterferon alfa-2b-njft) for adults with essential thrombocythemia, a rare chronic myeloproliferative neoplasm where the bone marrow produces an excessive number of platelets. This approval marks the first new treatment for essential thrombocythemia in nearly three decades and is applicable to adults regardless of their genotype, disease status, or prior cytoreductive treatment.
