Bundibugyo Virus Disease (Ebola) Outbreak Continues in DRC, Declared Over in Uganda

The Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD) outbreak, a form of Ebola, continues to be a public health emergency of international concern in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). As of August 31, 2026, the DRC has reported 6,186 confirmed cases and 3,007 confirmed deaths, an increase of 530 cases and 292 deaths since the previous report. In contrast, the outbreak in Uganda was declared over on August 27, 2026, following no new cases since July 16, 2026.
