Justice Department Announces Emergency Scheduling of Three Potent Kratom Compounds

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced the emergency, temporary scheduling of three kratom-related compounds: mitragynine pseudoindoxyl (MGPI), MGM-15, and MGM-16. The DOJ stated that these compounds pose an "imminent hazard to public safety." The American Medical Association (AMA) continues to advocate for legislative efforts to ban the marketing, distribution, promotion, and sale of synthesized, purified, or derivative products from kratom.
