WHO Validates Bhutan for Eliminating Dog-Transmitted Human Rabies

The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially validated Bhutan's elimination of dog-transmitted rabies as a public health problem, making it the first country in the WHO South-East Asia Region to achieve this milestone. This recognition signifies that Bhutan has had no human deaths from dog-transmitted rabies for at least two years and has demonstrated robust surveillance, laboratory diagnosis, animal vaccination, and timely access to post-exposure prophylaxis.
