New NIH-Funded Trial Finds Paxlovid Ineffective for Treating Established Long COVID

A new NIH-funded randomized trial, published in Lancet Infectious Diseases, has concluded that nirmatrelvir-ritonavir (Paxlovid) does not have a role in treating established long COVID. The study, designed to address limitations of previous trials, found no benefit across cognitive dysfunction, autonomic dysfunction, and exercise intolerance, even with extended dosing regimens.
